Calling All Stretchers !!!!

I need your help...My last relaxer was Mar. 3 2008 ..I'm 8 weeks post relaxer....Everyone knows that stretching is not my thing....I usually relax 6 to 8 weeks......I really want to relax...Can't take it anymore..... But Mother's Day weekend my Husband is taking me out of town and I want a fresh relaxer....If I relax now.....Then in three weeks when we go out of town I'll have new growth.....So I want to wait 3 more weeks...But I don't think I'll make it to 11 weeks...

Please leave comments with tips on how to tame new growth and keep it soft....Thanks in advance!!!!

  1. I am be no stretch of the imagination a master stretcher, (those who go 20+ weeks), but when I am stretching I have to deep condition at least every 3 days. I also use coconut oil on the new growth to soften it.
I have a great detangler..soft sheen carson detangler for kids.
    I hope this helps.

  2. I agree with what PJD said. I also find it extremely important to keep my hair from tangling... which it does easily for me after week 9. which means no air drying for me without roller setting. Otherwise the new growth tangles up.

  3. i find that if I just go to the dominicans and have them rollerset my hair and blow out the roots ONLY my hair stays straight for a decent lenght of time.. or u can rollerset it yourself and flat iron the roots

  4. I wash and condition in sections. I make 4 sections in my hair and poo each individually in twists and detangle each individually. Deep conditioning is a must and a good detangling leave in helps to when you are detangling. You can do it girl!

  5. I think the ladies have said it all - moisture! Deep conditioning and adding glycerin, coconut oil, camellia oil are essential. Also my NG reacts positively to a shikamlarithaneem mix.

Anyway, I'm with you - stretching isn't easy. But you can do it!

Will be back to see what other suggestions your readers have...

    Good luck!
