My Review : Dr. Bronners Magic "All In One " Shikaki Soap :
I used the Lavender Scented One shown in the pic above
My first reactions to this soap was it was strange....It was black or very dark brown and squirts out like water..And to be honest it didnt really lather....I didn't really care for the smell but I smelled the lemongrass and it smell good and I'm looking for their Spearmint- Peppermint one also..
After washing with it twice my hair was so so clean...It felt like I had clarify but my hair was super super soft and it didn't feel stripped like shampoos....I love it!!!
I get the gentle Dr Bronners Soap benefits without having to mix it up with oils and water...This is already mixed up and it saves me a little bit of time ...I also get the benefits of Shikaki without doing all the boiling and mixing powders
Its a keeper ...I liked it a lot...I will use up the bottle of lavender..But I want the lemongrass and spearmint and peppermint Shikaki Soaps..
This is what I will be using now...

I've been using this soap for the past 2 months and i love it! You're right, you get the benefits od shikakai with having to mess with all the powders and stuff. Its great!
So are u gonna stop using ur castile soap mix?
I'm so glad you posted this. I like the Giovanni shampoo I just bought. But I'm always on the lookout for something that will effectively clean my hair without making my hair feel stripped. Thanks so much. :)
Now I have to go on and try it. LOL. I'm in love with you castile soap mix and if I can get the same results without mixng, I want in too! LOL. I gave your blog an award! b/c I think you blog is fabulous. :0)
Hey traycee,
what store can i find this soap in?
Thanks for the heads up. I love Dr. Bronner's castile soap, so I'm definitely going to try this.
I gave you a Blog Award...
read about it here!
wooo hoo someone else who has tried the Shikakai soap! I have been raving about this soap on my fotki for the past 6 months. I LOVE IT!! I do a pre-treatment with coconut oil, but even when I dont, it cleans nicely without stripping and I dont have to use much at all.
its available at health food stores and TARGET so now I dont have to drive as far. I have the unscented but the lemongrass I just picked up and its AWESOME!

where did u purchase tracyee?
I really wanted to like this one. I purchased the unscented in the blue bottle. The first time I used it my hair was clean but it made my scalp so dry. The next moring I hade huge flakes. I tried using it as a bodywash and it makes me itch terribly. I had to throw out the whole bottle. Now I just stick to Dr. Bronner's Almond scented castile soap for hair and body.
Hey Girl - After reading this I went to Whole Foods for lunch today & I picked up Spearmint- Peppermint - so I can't wait to try it!
I keep seeing this at Target but I think I'm gonna pass. I am addicted to your Dr Bonners mix and I use Dr Bonners to clean with. I love multipurpose products.
Hey Traycee.. Love your blog! I just picked up the Peppermint Shikakai soap by Dr. Bronner and plan to use it this week. About how much of the product would you say you apply to your hair? It looks a bit concentrated so I figured a quarter to half-dollar size would be sufficient on my BSL hair. Is that about right?
Did anyone product build-up from this? I washed once, then conditioned. I could tell right after I rinsed that my hair felt heavy. Has anyone else experienced this?
