Organics By Africa's Best Olive Oil

Well I'm finishing my 13th week post relaxer......I have never stretched this long before...The longest was 12 weeks...So far so good...

My only issue right now is styling...Taming the beast has become challenging...My new growth basically does what it wants...And the Aloe Vera Gel just isn't doing the job anymore ...And neither is the scarf method...My buns start out neat but end up looking a hot mess....I'm not going to be running around here looking raggedy ...That's out of the question...

Lately it has me craving for something greasy or thicker....Maybe a grease or a pomade...Something that will help slick back my hair into a neater bun....Only thing is I refuse to go back to Mineral or Petroleum base greases...

So I went to a beauty supply store and spent about 1hr reading the ingredients to so many greases, and hair dresses...Looking for something that would pass the ingredient test..

I only found one and that was ingredients didn't have Petroleum or Mineral Oil and that was Organics By Africa's Best Olive Oil Dry Hair And Scalp Therapy...

Water - Aqua , Soybean Oil - Glycine Soja , Glycol , Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil , Steareth-20 , Steareth-2 , Polyquaternium-37 , Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate , PPG-1 , Trideceth-6 , Olive Fruit Oil - Olea Europaea , Glycerin , Lanolin Oil , Dimethicone , DMDM Hydantoin , Fragrance - Parfum , Methylparaben , Propylparaben , Corn Oil - Zea Mays , BHT , BHA , Soluble Collagen , Horsetail Extract - Carthamus Tinctorius , D&C Green No. 5 , D&C Orange No. 4 , D&C Yellow No. 10

They Claim

The Texture of this was very creamy...Which was perfect..

It has a very light sweet fruity smell...Its one of the scents that either you like it or you don't...I enjoyed the scent

I lightly spritz my edges then applied Organics to all of my edges and brushed into my hair....Then on top of that I used my Aloe Vera Gel and brushed into my edges...Put my hair in a low pony tail...Then I spritz my Pony tail and applied Organics to the length of my pony tail then sealed with Avocado Oil...And it worked great..I won't be using this on my scalp because I'm using the Castor Oil for that

Check Spelling

The only con that I noticed was on my Sons hair who is natural of course . If you apply to wet natural hair or use too much it turns white ...I didn't have this problem ...

If I like this is truly still up in the air...

What hair dresses are you using that do not contain Petroleum or Mineral Oil ???

WHAT ABOUT ELASTA QP MANGO BUTTER? isnt that a great thick moisturizer that works wonders on edges? I use it for mine, please let me know if this use is detrimental!

Thanks HHG!

Unrefined shea butter works well for my new growth when I pull my hair back in a bun/pony. I would advise to spritz your new growth before applying the product but you already do that:)

I've been using the ORS carrot oil lately for my edges and ends. I really like, but you can definitely smell the carrot.

I use Hollywood Beauty Olive Creme and Carrot Creme as my main moisturizers. They have a lot of great ingredients in them.

I just started using Cantu Shea Butter "Grow Strong Strengthening Treatment". It doesn't list petroleum or mineral oil as ingredients and I can feel the difference after a couple of days. It has a creamy texture similiar to the Organics Olive Oil you purchased.

I tried this and loved it initially but after a while instead of moisturizing my hair is actually made it feel dry... I was starting to get nasty crispy ends... not a cute look. SO I had to put it away. I don't know why it had to start "acting up" because I really did like it initially. But then again my hair is like that with most moisturizers. I hope you end up liking it :)

I didn't like the Organics By Africa (too heavy), but it's on clearance at Target if anyone wants to try it.

That whipped gelly by hairveda works wonders for slicking down my edges and JBCO, unbelievably, slicks down my hair. Who woud've thought? Usually,I have to use water, creams, gels and conditioner all at once to get my poor hair slicked down, especially my edges! lol. THis sounds like some good stuff you're using here TRaycee :)

I'm looking for another moisterizer. I have got the elasta qp mango butter which I love but it brings me out in spots. So I'm using unrefined shea butter mixed with cocounut oil but I dont want to use it every day as its a bit heavy. The Africa's Best Organincs has a shea butter and tea tree oil moisterizer which I'm thinking of trying. That too has no mineral oil or petrolatum.

My favorite products for slicking down edges are:
1)Carol's Daughter Kizzi 'Stay-Put Pomade'
2)Hairveda's Whipped Gelly

I am into more natural products, and I like that these are free of not only petroleum/mineral oil, but also silicones and parabens, and they work great.
