Getting Tired Of This Stretching Thing

I so miss my hair right now...I really do..I can't wait to relax...I can't do anything with my hair at this point but wear a bun....I'm getting so antsy ...The other night I had a dream that I relaxed at the end of my stretch and I had a upside down U ...My hair was broken badly...I was heart broken....Then I woke up...It was all a dream....

I just really miss my hair....I miss feeling my hair on my back...I miss how my hair tickles the inside of my elbows...I miss wearing different styles...I'm so ready to get out this bun.

I'm really tempted to flat iron..I just want a sneak peek at my length....I know my hair has grown considerably ...Because when I take my bun down...My hair falls a little past waist length...Even with the tons of shrinkage at the roots

Hey Traycee, congrats on stretching for so long. The only thing i can really tell you is that you came this far, so why quit now? Your almost there, but what i would tell you though is that if you do decide to relax soon, be proud of yourself that you came this far and now you know your potential and how strong you really are. Cause i know i couldn't reach 6 months at least not now. 3 is my tops.Congrats and thanks again for the site

I'm with you on that Traycee, girl I'm not feeling this stretching thing right now either, my next relaxer is next week. All I been wearing is buns, phony ponys, and half wigs. Good Luck with meeting your goal.

I totally understand what you mean but believe me, this summer you will be proud of yourself (and relieved!). You have all my support! ;o)

wow, I just came across your blog..how long have you been stretching??

Hi Traycee,

I am a beginner, having just cut everything off 3 months ago to start over. I was wondering, how did you style your hair when you growing it out it till it was long enough to air dry? I'm afraid that my ear length hair will look C-RAZY if I let those ends dry naturally. Thanks for your thoughts.

Traycee, we are all anxious to see how your hair has grown. I know it is going to be lovely! I am sorry for your nightmare, but it is probably due to you consciously and sub-consciously thinking about your hair and the results. :)

ITA with Niecey. Do what you gotta do. You''ve come this far and you're probably at your goal length. You had an amazing stretch thus far.

hello traycee! if you have been able to wait 5 months, you should wait one month more! i would recommend after your relaxer to braid your hair. that will pemit you to lower hair manipulation and to forget your new growth!

Wow Traycee, can't wait to see your results. I agree also that stretching and braids have you missing your hair.

Girl, I am with you. I hate stretching. After suffering with huge knots in the shower, I have the right to be a little gunshy. But my hair has a mind of its own. I want to relax right at 8 to 10 weeks, but when I got to put the last relaxer in, my hair was so manageable it wasn't even funny. That's when I emailed you about how to relax when you can't see the line of demarcation. So I was forced to wait until I could see a clear line. I used the ORS replenishing pak and it brought my hair back to life so I could forgo my relaxer. I was supposed to relax on April 3, but relaxed on like April 27. It wasn't by choice. I had the relaxer already on standby, but I wasn't going to do anything to hurt my progress, so my hair won. What I wanted to do became a nonissue. I'm proud of you though. I saw the video on this site of the girl with all that newgrowth and loving it. I would love to keep on stretching, but my arms get so tired because I have to go slow and take my time. It's tiring. That's why I love braidouts and wigs. They save me the trouble of doing my own hair everyday. Thanks for letting me rant.

Hi Tracee, Stay strong with your stretch. I really dont know how everyone is able to stretch so long. I am currently at 5 months BUT it has been braided up in a sew in for most of that time. I would love some advice on advising the stylist on handling all this new growth. I will be relaxing soon and I am too scared to go to the dominicans cause they will tear this new growth up. Im just nervous.

I understand 100%, I'm almost 17 weeks into my stretch, I'm relaxing late June and I can't wait. I'm so tired of bunning, I wan to wear my hair down :-( you're doing great though... you'll feel your hair down before you know it...

Hey Traycee, can I ask why you're forcing yourself to go six months? Five months is a very long time--I'd imagine your hair must have already reaped the benefits of stretching--so I'm just wondering, why be miserable for another month?

I am currently natural, and I've been following your hair journey for a while now. I don't know much about stretching, so I was just wondering (out of curiosity) if there was some extra benefit to waiting six months?

@ Niecey...Thanks..I am proud either way

@ PrincessBeautyLounge....Thanks Girl..I only have 15 more days to go..

@ LaManouchka...Thanks...I need all the support I can get...Hahaha

@ Hipster90...I'm 5 1/2 months right now..

@ Anonymous...I started my journey at about APL...So I started off with a little length..Hair shorter than shoulder length can do ..Braid outs and Bantu Knots (with head bands), Rollersets to airdry

@ Memee...Yeah I can't wait either..Your right about the nightmare...I just have so much going on in there...I can't tell whats going on and its kinda scary for me

@ LaQT...Thanks Sis...I hope your right...Hahahahaha..Oh how are the girls ???

@ Anonymous....Thanks !!!

@ Tina...I'm holding on...THanks for the encouragement

@ Blah...I'm hanging in there...15 more days

@ Patrick ...Yeah...Well I tried the braids and the fake hair made me itch really bad, the braids were so long because my hair is long, and my Husband doesn't really care for them...So I'm trying to stretch out my relaxers with out adding hair, braiding hair..

@ Hair and Beyond..Yes I'm missing my hair...Yeah I used to miss my hair when I used to wear braids all the time before my hair journey

@ Anonymous...YES ..I remember your email...I think the video on KISS your refering to is Slyver2..I love her hair..She is truly one of my hair inspiration...

@ Gen...5 months is good no matter how you did it..Hahhahaha..Seriously...I think the nervous stuff comes with it..Because even though I can't wait to relax...Im so nervous about relaxing because I have never relaxed with this much new growth...I hoping not to underprocess..On a positive note I don't have to worry about overlapping hahahhaha

@ Kami11213...Oh thats good..Pls send me a link to your stretching results when you relax

@ LadyBird... Your hair is tickles your elbow too....I always jump thinking something is crawling on me

@ Serenity....You know there is no big difference in relaxing at 5 months versus 1 month later...At this point its more about the fact that I set a goal and trying to meet it without quiting..My father kind of installed that into us...Oh and plus I timed it where I will have a fresh relaxer for events that are coming up at the end of June and the early part of July...

Girl the wait will all be worth it once you finally relax and get to play with all that new length. I'm at the tail end of a stretch myself and all I can do is think of that day when I get to enjoy the fruits of my labor.

the closer I get to a perm day, the more scary dreams I have about a perm. I stretched for 5 months and it felt so good to get a perm.

What an inspiration you are! I am 6 weeks into this relaxer and feel a strong need to relax! I stretched 13 weeks before this last one. I have been taking vitamins, lots of biotin and this stuff called fenugreek herb. My hair is growing faster than ever. I don't know if I should still keep up the same stretch time or what. All I know is I love my hair, I love black hair and Ive never been prouder!
