Healthy Hair Starts On The Inside

So yesterday I ran out of my MSM and just didn't feel like going to GNC..So today I was in panic..I had to get to GNC ASAP.....

Most of you guys know I credit my speedy growth this year to my Multi Vitamins, MSM and Biotin ....Over past few months I added Omega 3 Fish Oil and B complex Supplements to the mix... My hair seems to love those as well...(Click Here To Read More About My Supplements)

Taking supplements has truly made my hair thick again and kept my hair growing at a fast rate....When I get lazy on taking my vitamins..I see my growth rate slow down...So I stay on top of it ....

Taking supplements is probably the only thing about my regimen I hate doing....I hate taking those big ole pills...But I'm so addicted to it at the same time..Because of all the benefits I reap from them....Not just in my hair, but in my skin and nails (even though I keep them cut short).

I'm really trying hard right now to stay consistent with my vitamins and supplements ..Because I have goals to meet...

My goal is to meet HIP LENGTH by the end of the year...But this summer would even be better..I'm really getting closer...But I won't straighten or do any length checks for a while...So I won't drive myself crazy..

I may straighten for my Bday in a couple of weeks ...I don't know yet ..But if I do I will post pics..

I believe that to jump start growth it starts with taking care of the inside...By getting plenty of sleep, drinking plenty of water, eating right, and taking your vitamins....

The hardest part is the retention....

Random Toughts

I have been working out so hard the last few days....I'm so so sore and on top of that I spent the day moving around furniture in my bedroom....Now tonight..I can barely move.....And in between all that I spent the day answering emails....So I'm tired

I always deep condition on Wednesdays but tonight..Its not going to happen....I'm sure my hair will survive missing one deep condition...

A few minutes ago I took my Aloe Vera Mix and spritzed my hair....Applied GVP Silk Infusion ..I put my hair in low pony tail...Then took my bioInfusion Olive Oil Hair lotion and applied it just to the pony tail...Braided the pony tail in one braid...And put a little Avocado Oil just on the ends...Wrapped the braid around in a bun and used another elastic band to hold it...

I'm about to put my scarf on and that's it....I may get up in the morning and deep condition...Who knows...I won't make any promises...hahahahaha

The other day I noticed the gym has a yoga class...Something I have never been into...But listening to the soft music and looking at the relaxing stretching...I'm really thinking about trying it out...I wonder if they have a beginning class...

Steaming At Home

I know some of this gets a little redundant ...But I go over my regimen so many times because that is how some learn..

Today was my first day back to the gym since getting over the flu....Today was just a cardio day...So I did 1 hour on the Elliptical Machine....

When I got home I jumped in the shower...Here is something that I always like to do ...

Before starting my shower..I shut the bathroom door and shower the door ...That way I take full advantage of the steam..

I turn the shower on just warm water so that I won't damage my hair....I then rinsed my hair really well and add my conditioner(GVP Tea Trea Conditioner)and gently massaged into my hair and scalp...Rinsed well ...Then I applied more conditioner to my hair...Twisted my hair up and then clip it up ....
Next I turn the hot water up in the shower...The hot water always feels so good..As the steam fills the bathroom it is so so relaxing ..I took about 15 min shower..Letting the hot water relax my tight muscles...The steam + conditioner = Soft Conditioned Moisturized Hair...

Before rinsing I turn down the heat then rinse....Always making sure I remove all conditioner from my scalp...

I then Lightly wrap hair in a towel while I dry off and apply my Shea Butter to my skin...When I finished..I unwrapped my hair and it felt like silk....My hair loves the steam....And I can't wait to get my steamer for my hair and face...

I applied Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship Leave-In Conditioner to my hair..And then my Macadamia Oil...Braided in 5 plaits with satin rollers on the ends...

I'll damp bun in the morning..

Today's Wash Day and Bun

This evening the Hubby and I went to go see Tyler Perry's new movie Madea Goes To Jail..I loved it by the way...Then went out to eat appetizers and have drinks....It was a nice laid back evening..

Early today I washed my hair with my Dr. Bronners Mix, then did Aphogee 2 min Reconstructor for 5 mins w/heat ...Followed up with GVP Tea Tree Conditioner ( Mixed w/Coconut Oil, Honey, Veg Glycerin) for 40 mins w/heat....Then applied Herbal Essence Long Term Relationship Leave-in ,GVP Silk Infusion, and a little Macadamia oil...

Because I'm just starting to feel better...I didn't want air dry in braids like I usually do... I dried my hair under my hooded drier with hair hanging down....

My hair dried extra soft...Then I lightly spritz hair with my Aloe Vera Mix ....Applied bioInfusion Olive Oil Hair Lotion and a little of my Mega Oil Mix...My hair felt amazing....I pulled my hair up in a bun...And styled my bangs .... Here is my Bun...

Oh and I got new DOLCE & GABBANA eye glasses...

Lovin My New Moisturizer

Well I have been sick since Valentines Day....I'm just now starting to gain my strength back..I lost some weight from being sick....But besides a sinus headache and coughing up a lot of cold out my chest...I'm doing a lot better...A lot better...

I have been wearing my hair in a bun all week....Just taking it down to moisturize then re bunning...I managed co-wash the beginning of the week....But tonight my scalp was begging to be washed...I didn't wash it because I really don't need to sleep with wet hair....It would be better to wash it in the morning ...

So I at least took my bun down for a couple of hours to let my scalp breath .....And I loved how soft the my new bioInfusion Olive Oil Hair Lotion had my hair feeling and without the oily feeling hair....It was so soft that I decided to comb..Why I don't know..I just wanted to play in it...And I never comb dry hair unless it has been straighten first...

But u can see after I detangled my hair that it wasn't heavy how most moisturizers will make your hair....But it was huge and puffy and soft ....I'm loving the bioInfusion so far !! Oh ...I'm hiding my elbows because their ashy...hahahahaha
Well I just moisturized and sealed my hair and its back in its bun...

What's For Dinner ??

Pescatarian update....

Most people visualize you eating raw veggies and bland foods...And its nothing like that that...Ok I do eat alot of veggies...But its much more fun than that

I eat a lot of meat like entrees from Boca, Amy's, Morning Star..Made from mostly soy and veggies
My Favorite is Boca...They have :

Pattie for burgers

Breakfast Patties ( Taste just like sausage..My favorite)

Chik'n Patties (of course not real chicken)

Chik'n nuggets

The list goes on and on ....These meals are so delicious I have to question do they have real meat tucked in those patties somewhere...hahahahaha

When I have a taste for a restaurant burger ...I get a Veggie Burger from Fat Burgers or Island Burgers...Yummy

To learn more here are the links about their products :

Sorry I have never been a tofu person...I just don't like it....I have been told I just never had it prepared right....Maybe true...But I think I will live without eating tofu..hahahahaha

Oh and I substitute my dairy products with soy products..

I love Light Soy Milk for my cereals...To be honest...You know the only thing I miss...Is my morning eggs....

Protective Styles = Breakage ?????

Your protective style maybe causing breakage .....
To avoid unwanted breakage from protective styling daily...Here are a few Do's and Don'ts

Don't

  • Wear Tight Ponytails

  • Metal Accessories

  • Rubber Bands

  • Elastics with metal

  • Hairs Clip and Barrettes that can snag hair

  • Buns and ponytails with wet hair...Hair is weakest when wet ( I wait till my hair is at least damp before bunning)

Do

  • Loose Buns or Messy Buns (alway cute)

  • Elastic Bands with No Metal

  • Good Day Hair Pins (Sold at Sally's )

  • Use 100% Aloe Vera Gel (For Sun Burns) instead of Hair Gel

  • If you know your hair is weak ....I would stick with banana clips or french rolls until hair gets stronger..

I personally bun 90% of the time with no problem...Loose buns are always safe.....

How I achieve my sleek look in my buns...I simply....Use my spritz for my edges ( Can use water)...And lightly finger hair or use a soft brush and finger/brush into a pony tail that is not too tight..I apply my Aloe Vera Gel to just the edges then create my bun....After finishing I put on my Satin Scarf until I leave the house...When I remove my Scarf I have slick edges and a neat protective style ...Without pulling my hair into tight ponytails....

Wow I Never Thought About That...

So I got a email from a young lady that is experiencing breakage behind the ears on both sides....Caused by her eyeglasses....

And I said wow....

Being a new eye glass wearer ( Started wearing eye glasses last June)...I was blown away .... I had never heard of that...And when I started googling I learned it was a common cause of breakage..Just like hair clips...

Considering we have to wear glasses to see not for fashion purposes only...All we can do is pay close attention to that area...

I did noticed when I moisturized tonight...That area gets abandoned...So I pulled my hair up and to the side and moisturized that area behind the ear...

It just never crossed my mind that the glasses I have to wear to see clearly could cause breakage....I learn something new everyday...

Just My Point Of View

I often get ladies wanting to give credit to me being able to grow long hair to being relaxed ( Crazy I know)...

And I have heard over and over again the opposite that natural hair grows faster than relaxed..

Well here is Traycee's opinion..hahahahaha

Relaxed hair doesn't grow faster than natural hair and natural hair does not grow faster than relaxed....

One for some may actually make it easier for one to retain length .... But neither has anything to do with growth..

Sometimes people think natural hair grows slower only because of shrinkage....But that's it ....

Its only shrinkage....

And some people believe natural hair grows faster because they were not able to retain their length relaxed...
Its just that being chemical free allows most to retain all or most their gained length...And yes I said most
Being chemical free is always a healthier choice

My opinion...You can always count on your hair growing...Even after death..Your hair still grows...

The problem most African American Women have it retaining length....Contrary to the lie that we can't grow long hair...That's why once educated we can grow our hair to all lengths...Whether you are natural, texlaxed , or relaxed...
I say just concentrate on being healthy , eating healthy and retaining your length ...And that's it...
What do you think and why ???

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day !!!!

Photobucket

Well I decided to cancel the reservations....Which I am so so happy I did because I woke up this morning sick ...So our Valentines Day is the both of us in bed together sick.....So we are just in bed watching movies together....Trying to figure out who and what we are going to eat and feed the kids....He did sneak out and buy me some beautiful Lily's this morning....Which was a nice surprise... I just called in to Olive Garden Restaurant and ordered take out that will be ready to be picked up this evening....I have some wine chilling in the fridge

I made my self deep condition this morning...I still need to rinse my hair....I know having wet hair while being sick is bad ....But I figured I could deep condition on dry hair, shampoo, and air dry in my normal braids and I could wear a well moisturized bun all week with out taking it down....

Well I'm about to jump in the shower...And shampoo my hair and put on one of the Hubby's T-shirt and crawl right back into bed .....My head is pounding....

Wishing You All A Happy Valentines Day...

Whats A Girl To Do ???

OK so my Hubby is laying next to me with over 100 temp....He has been vomiting , chills , headache , cough and body aches.....He is really sick....

So the first thing that comes to mind is I should cancel our Reservations for Valentines day...That way we won't lose our deposit....If I cancel tonight I can get the deposit back...I can't cancel tomorrow...Because I will lose our deposit....And that is way too much money to give away...

Mind you the Hubby refuses to let me cancel our reservations.....While I'm sitting here looking at the clock...I am so tempted to call the hotel and cancel....My only dilemma is ...If he feels better by Sat he will be pissed....

No matter how many times I tell him its OK....He won't listen....

I hate losing money....Well I got 1 hour to cancel and get our deposit back.....So I'm really thinking this one out....

Fitness Update...

Ok ...I have a confession....I havent worked out in a total of 7 days....Its horrible....But with the new baby...I can't figure out when to go..When Lil Man is finally picked up ...I am exhausted...Its so frustrating......

So here is my plan....

Cardio 4 days a week instead of 6...
Upper 2x a week
Lower 2x a week

Thats cutting my workout down in half....

So Im going to try the 5 Hour Energy Drinks before working out a 9: 00pm at night....Ive heard great things about it....Hopefully its what I need to give me a little push....

But Starting tonight I will work out no matter how tired I feel...

I have goals I want to reach by my birthday in March....I can't turn 21 for the 11th time a few pounds over weight....hahahhahaha

A New Man In My Life...

Ok so ....The reason why I'm so tired is on top of my 4 boys a new baby boy has been added to the bunch....A beautiful Baby Boy

A girlfriend of ours had a baby boy and has returned to work...To help her out I am keeping the baby daily....I keep him from like 8:30 in the morning to like 8:00pm ...I'm so tired ..hahhahahhaa....Who would of thought adding one more lil Man to the mix would cause so much havoc......A beautiful reminder to why the Hubby and I decided to stop at four....

I have to be honest though....It is nice to have a baby in the house again .....And this one I can spoil and send home at the end of the day...

Tonights Hair Routine

I mixed GVP Conditioning Balm , with GVP Tea Tree Conditioner , mixed with Coconut Oil and Honey..I applied my conditioning mix on my hair this afternoon and let sit on my hair all day while I washed clothes and did chores around the house......I rinsed my hair late tonight......I skipped co-washing all together because I'm just tired and didn't feel l like it...My body is aching and I hope I'm not getting sick...

Anyways after deep conditioning I rinsed well...Then did another rinse with cool water....Softly towel dried....Then applied Herbal Essence Long Term Relationship Leave In and GVP Silk Remedy and a little of my Mega Mix of Oils...I braided in 4 braids with Satin Rollers at the ends..

Tomorrow no matter how cute my braid out is...It will go back in its bun ....Till the weekend..I still haven't decided how I'm going to do my hair this weekend....

Giving Advice

I get one question that people ask me often....And that is

Do I share all of my hair advice with friends and family ???

And the answer to that is NO...

Yep I said NO...The only time I share is when I am asked for advice or help....

Do my friends and family ask for help or tips ?????

And the Answer is YES

I do talk about my Blog and Hair Site to my friends and family ...So everyone knows about it...And they see my progress with my hair...

You see...I have learned over the years ...Giving un asked for advice ( especially about one's appearance) can be irritating and hurtful..No matter how it is given....No one likes a 'know it all'

So when my friends call or come by for advice ...They get all of my advice and attention...But I don't volunteer my opinion and advice unless asked ...

I Never Talk About....

There are so many many good oils out there ...That I don't talk about ..Mostly because I don't use them....Picking oils have a lot to do with preference , texture, hair type, budget and conditioning needs...

Some obvious reasons to pick oils are...People with thicker hair can use thicker oils ...When people with thinner hair tend to favor lighter oils..

Heres a oil ...I have never tried but is extremely popular...Jojobo Oil

Jojoba Oil is said to be extremely good for hair with problems and damage...It is respected for its healing and moisturizing abilities...

Jojoba Oil is another oil that is similar to the natural oil your scalp produces called sebum ( other oils that mimic sebum are Coconut and Macadamia Oil

Jojoba Oil is said to be a great oil to leave in hair overnight

This next oil was a favorite of mine in the beginning of my hair journey....hahahaha... I forgot about a lot of oils when I found Coconut Oil

That oil is Sweet Almond Oil

Almond oil is a rich in vitamin E and contain essential minerals such as magnesium, calicum, and high in fat...

Almond Oil is said to

Nourishes hair

Smooths hair cuticles
Makes hair long, strong and thick
Adds shine to the hair
Slows shedding

Hmmmm....I may to add this one back to the regimen....

Another Oil I have never used....

Alma Oil

Alma Oil has been used by Indians for years as a conditioner for the hair

Amla Oil enriches hair growth and pigmentation

It prevents premature graying

Rids you of dandruff

Stronger Hair

Stops Shedding

Prevents split ends..

This oil have so so many more benefits...This is a oil I will be trying soon

The Next Oil is Castor Oil

Soft hair

Help Thicken Hair Overtime

Castor Oil is a oil I tried and couldn't get into....It is very heavy and It felt as if it was just coating the hair..

"No Girl ....You Have Good Hair"

I did what I said and deep conditioned over night last night....Got up this morning and rinsed...I said I was going to Co Wash...But what I ended up doing was applying my Dr.Bonner's Mix just to my scalp only ...I applied just a small amount so that I could clean my scalp only ....Rinsed ...Then applied Long Term Relationship Leave In and Macadamia Oil ....I braided my hair in my normal plaits and air dried..

This evening my Hubby and I had errands ...So I wore a braid out....While we were out... We met this young lady who said she is a beautician and immediately starts touching and asking questions about my hair..."Its so soft" She says ..."Is it yours? "...And I explain yes...And she goes you have that "good hair"... I shake my head because I always hated that term because it was never referring to me .. hahahahahaha...I was grew up hearing about having bad hair...

I explained to her that I achieved the waves by doing a braid out...Then she says no girl...You have good hair...You have to have good hair to grow it that long....Before I could even respond my Husband gives me that look like " Just Let It Go"....So I smile and say thank you...But this ignorant young lady is somebodies beautician...Scary

Squeaky Clean

Most of you know the Dr Bonners Magic Soap that I have been diluting with water and oil to wash my hair is multi purpose soap....Everyone raves about using it for clothes and cleaning purposes even washing cars...

So I diluted some today and put it to the real test...My kitchen floor...Its the real test because most of you know trying to mop your kitchen floor with the wrong kind of soap will leave a residue on the floor that is sometimes sticky....

Anyways the floors came out great and I used it to clean my bathroom and the kids bathroom....It really made me feel like I was being a good Mommy using something that did not contain harsh chemicals that are in Fab and pine sol....

I'm going to purchase the Rose and the Lavender Scents for cleaning purposes ...

This Weekend Hair

I stretched out my freshly flat ironed hair from last week as long as I could...Hahahaha ..I hung on during the workouts and the heavy rain...I wore updo's toward the end of the week...

On Saturday Night the Hubby toke me out ....And I wore it half pinned up with a head band and half down ....Here is pics from the front and back

Then on Sunday I had was grocery shopping and stuff ....So I just did what I call a Messy Roll...Its like half of a french roll....Rolled in the back with the top loose and messy....Its really cute with jeans....Here are pics of the front and back

While it was nice having the straight hair for the week...I really started missing having some texture to my hair.....
I just finished dusting my ends well and mixing my GVP Conditioning Balm with some Macadamia Oil and Honey and I'm about to warm it up and apply to my dry hair and deep condition over night...I'm plan on co-washing in the morning...I probably won't wash my hair till next Friday...
I was thinking about flat ironing for Valentines Day....But I think I'm just going to wear a cute updo...and Flat Iron for my Bday in March....And concentrate on giving my hair lots of rest....hahahaha

Whats Your Favorite Oil ??

So what is my favorite oil....

Well forever it was Coconut Oil....I loved the way it is light , I love that it add shines , and how it works awesome in deep conditioners...

Then one day I tried Avocado Oil...Its a little heavier than Coconut Oil...But I love the way I can add it my ends or to all of my hair and how it soften my hair almost like conditioner...I love the fact that it works awesome as a prepoo or use it as a softening Mojo when you need it

Last I found the Macadamia Oil....And this one works just as good as the Avocado Oil....

So now ...Whats your favorite oil ??? I just can't answer with one oil....I could see myself living with out any of them...

But if I was forced to pick one ....I would pick my Avocado Oil....

So Whats Your Favorite Oil ????
