CHI Stole My Heart

I flat ironed a couple of weeks ago and didnt post pics...I wish I had because it was one of the best flat iron results since I started me journey.....After I started my journey...I adopted leave in conditioners, and heat protectors .......My straightened hair never had that extra extra light , bouncy feel to it from then on....

Well all that changed this last time around....Yep over the last couple of months I have fallen head over heels with CHI products...

CHI Keratin Mist Spray

CHI claims:

•Leave-in strengthening treatment
•Cationic Hydration Interlink softens and balances hair, locking in moisture
•Reconstructs the inner structure of the hair
•Improves strength
•Adds protection and shine
•Provides incredible manageability
•Can be used every day

Let me say I used this until the bottle was gone to see if the claims were true....Yes...Yes ...Every single one was true...My hair is so much stronger, healthier and shiner....This can be used alone as a leave in...But I prefer to use it on towel dried hair from root to tip...Then I apply my moisturizing leave in conditioner on top....I found doing this keeps my moisture/protein balanced....I use it after every co-wash or wash....At least 3- 5 times a week...I love this stuff...I can't imagine life without it now...Hahahaha

If you give it a try ...This is one of those products that you have to use for a month or longer (depending on condition of hair) to reap the real benefits...

CHI Silk Infusion

CHI Claims:

  • Silk Reconstructing Complex no pH

  • Rich leave in treatment
  • Enriched with pure silk along with wheat and soy proteins
  • Alcohol free
  • Ceramic heat will insure deep penetration of silk proteins
  • Strengthens the hair
  • Provides incredible softness
  • Adds manageability and shine without any build up

I had tried this product a few years ago and wasn't excited about it......Ofcourse that was before my hair journey....Well this time around I tried it on wet hair...After I apply my CHI Keratin Mist and my Leave In ...I apply about a dime size amount of CHI Silk Infusion instead of my oil....After I airdry....My hair feels amazing...I use a little here and there on dry hair...But I prefer it on wet hair....I love it on wet hair ..The fact that you can use it as a heat protector its a keeper

CHI Shine Infusion Thermal Polishing Spray

They Say:

CHI Shine Infusion Thermal Polishing Spray is an innovative weightless thermal active shine spray that provides an instant polished shine to all hair styles.

  • Helps to repair split ends
  • Eliminates frizz and flyaways
  • Provides protection against thermal damage
  • Ideal to use with all your CHI Ceramic tools

I loved this too....I haven't used it as a heat protector yet.....At night before I would tie up my straightened hair ...I would apply a very small amount of Silk Infusion before brushing and or combing my hair...Then I would pin it up and put on my scarf for the night....I would use the Shine Infusion Spray in the morning after styling ( like you would a oil sheen)....I loved this ...I really didnt use this everyday...Just whenever I needed some extra shine..

Oh and this time around ....At night I would sleep with 2 large bantu knots on the side and cover with scarf...Next morning I would have beautiful soft waves...

Chi isnt the cheapest line....But its so worth every penny...

Updates !!!!

Sorry for not blogging for a while....My plate is so so full...Kids are back in school...My oldest is playing football in High School and the second oldest is playing football in Jr High...

Good part is I have been blessed with three really big projects ....Funny how God will just place things in your lap..This isn't just a blessing but a dream....These projects on my resume takes me to a place I've been trying to get to for years....I'm so excited and scared at the same time...

I do know that God wouldn't give too much for me to handle...So if he blessed me with the opportunity ...I know I can do it and balance being a Mom and a wife....

Only dilemma.....Appearance is a important and required part of these projects....I'm 15 weeks post relaxer.....I could blow out my roots and flat iron my hair weekly....But I would have to skip my workouts ..Because if I work out I will have to use heat after each workout to keep my new growth straight....Using heat all week long would cause way too much damage...Skipping workouts is so not cool either...

My other option is too relax this weekend ....If I do that ends my stretch at exactly 16 weeks....I would be able to wear the straight styles , work out without any worries....Its just so sad to end a stretch that is going so so smoothly...

Either way I will keep you guys posted

Porous Hair

How Do I know If My Hair Is Porous ???

Symptoms of porous hair is dry no matter how much you deep condition or moisturize. Porous hair has no elasticity, & won't hold a curl...

To check if hair is porous ... Take a strand of your hair and place it in a sink full of water...Healthy hair will float..If the hair sinks to the bottom the hair is porous...

Porosity is related to the condition of your cuticle layer. Porous hair has a raised cuticle layer that easily absorbs water and is quick to lose moisture as well.

Low Porosity

Low porosity is when the cuticle of the hair shaft is compact and does not allow moisture to enter or leave the hair shaft..

Its very hard to process and extremely resistant to chemical services...

In this case I would suggest using a porosity conditioner a few days before relaxer/color so that your relaxer or color takes better

Overly Porous

Overly Porous hair is the result of damage...Either, chemical, heat damage, chlorine, and sun damage.
Overly porous hair is usually dry ,brittle and breaks easily...Feels moisturized or soft when wet but when your hair dries it loses its moisture. It has an open cuticle that both absorbs and releases moisture easily..It processes too quickly and caution must be taken taken when a chemical service is performed

Steps that can be taken to correct over porous hair

1. Weekly Apple Cider Vinegar Rinses ...The acid in the vinegar lowers PH lever..
( Dilute with about 1/4 to 1/2 of water following shampooing.... Rinse clean  and cont. with normal routine)

2. Protein Treatments for porous hair
Protein fills in gaps and binds to damaged places. It mends individual exterior along the cuticle. Regular protein conditioning improves the hair's porosity by reinforcing
the cuticle layers and allowing the hair shaft to better hold on to the moisture it is given.

3. Acidic Shampoo and Conditioners that are designed for overly porous hair ( Roux Porosity Control Step 1 ph 4.5 Corrector and Conditioner)

Craving Some Girliness...

My normal routine is going to the gym almost daily....Co wash or wash..I airdry in a bun, ponytail or ofcourse a braidout..Which only last until the next workout....Don't get me wrong my hair is loving it....Its really thriving off this routine...

But I'm tired of it...Today was wash day and I deep conditoned on dry hair...Rinse and cleaned my hair with Hair One...Next I applied Roux Porosity Conditioner and let it sit on my hair while I showered....Rinsed.Towel dried a little.....I sprayed my roots and hair with CHI Keratin Mist....Thats when I realized I'm out of all my leave ins....So I used the Mane n Tail Moisturizing /Texturizing Conditioner as a leave in ...Next applied a bit of oil and detangled again....After that I used my applicator to lightly oil my scalp with my Castor Oil
I used Silk Elements Designing Silk Mousse to do about 14 or 15 bantu knots....I did it different this time ......I did the bantu knots on wet hair ( I have only did them on dry hair)...I also tried out the Bantu Twist Out...Meaning I did a two strand twist before making it into a Bantu Knot..
I sat under the dryer for 1 1/2 and my hair was almost dry....I'm going to leave them in till in the morning and post pics for you guys..

While under the dryer...The Hubby was like...Come on lets go to the gym.....I told him I was doing my hair and I will go tomorrow...He could not believe I was putting hair before fitness...YEP I SURE AM....I just want to be a Lady for 24-48hrs without the gym being in the way..Yep Im going to rock my curls till Wed. then I will be back at the gym...

More Random Topics

12 weeks post..

I had my dates all wrong....I don't know why I thought I last relaxed around the 21st ....I was reading my older blogs and saw my Last Relaxer Results and it was June 13th..That makes more sense...Alot more sense....I'm trying to figure out why do I have so much new growth.....So in 2 days I will be 12 weeks post...Not bad at all..

..............................................................................................

My Castor Oil Mix..

I mixed it in a 4 ounce applicator bottle ( I talk about in prior blog)...I used Regular Castor Oil from the drug store this time because of the countless emails asking will it work the same...So I'm going to try it out....I still have a full bottle of the Jamaican Black Castor Oil (JBCO) sitting on my counter calling my name..Hahahahahaa..But I'm going to go ahead and compare it to the regular Castor Oil...

The first thing I have noticed is Regular Castor Oil is so much thicker than the JBCO....When I was doing the JBCO I just added a few drops of Lavendar Oil to mask the smell and a few drops of Jojoba just to thin it out a bit and thats it...

Well because Regular Castor Oil is so much thicker I had to mix more of  another oil to it thin it out....

3 ounces of Castor Oil
1 ounce of Sweet Almond Oil
20 small drops of Eucalyptus Oil

Believe it or not...I like this mix better....My new growth feels so much softer now then when I was using the JBCO....I also like the fact that it doesn't have that strong smell like the JBCO.....

We will see if I get the same results this time around....

Look What I found......."Roots Only"

I was so excited I couldn't wait to share...Hahahaha...I went to Walmart today to purchase my 100% Aloe Vera Gel ...When ofcourse I had to detour to the hair section...At the center of the aisle they had these applicator bottles designed for applying color just to the roots....When I saw the comb like top...My mind started to wonder...

I immediatley thought of oiling my scalp.... I was doing the Castor Oil  before and the more new growth I got...The more time consuming it became...Till I called it quicks...If its not easy , SIMPLE, or if its too time consuming...You'll lose me...Thats the honest truth...Hahahahaha
Anyways the applicator worked like a charm....God Bless the inventor...Hahahahaaha...I was able to oil my whole scalp in about a minute....Then I used my finger tips to massage it in....This is a keeper ...Its even inspired me to start back on my Castor Oil again....
I purchased this from Walmart for about $2 and some change....It can be purchased also on their website
