My New Cut and Color

My last length check

March 2010

See what had happened was...

(I finished my make up after this)

I've been sitting here trying to figure out a good reason to why I cut my hair... But I don't have one... Other than the fact that my V was growing and it was thinner towards the ends... This cut was extremely emotional for me to say the least...My hair has never been this long in my life... To me it was more of a need to change... So hence the cut and darker hair... Still aiming for TL just won't make it there as soon..

I started last night by cutting 1/4 of a inch through out my layers and dusting...

This morning I colored my hair using Silk Elements MegaSilk Hair Color System Coco Brown..

The Hubby actually cut my hair this morning after I colored and flatironed... He was so nervous asking are you sure... Baby are you sure..hahahaha... I used Feye's technique to make it easier for him ...

Next he cut straight across...

No cut just a little more.... Back at WL I think..

(um excused the ashy elbows..lol)

 Curled

I won't lie I have cried several times since I cut it.... But I do like it... It looks so much healthier and fuller... I'm hoping that when my texlaxed roots  shrink back up or when I do my next braid out or bantu knot  I don't totally regret it....

Cheer up. I love it! Your is always beautiful but it looks fuller and healthier. I think the darker color contributes to it appearing that way as well. As always your hair is beautiful and you are still blessed beyond just your hair.

I think you could actually go up a couple more inches, and your hair would look crazy thick and lush.

Since there were tears involved with this cut, I doubt you'll go there, but a big improvement over all!

I like the out come also. I want to color my hair so bad lol I think I will look up this silk elements.

Go Tracee! Your summer bun challenge gave me more healthy length so I felt confident to whack off 2 inches of my hair. I took a lot of deep breaths and swallowed hard, but the end result was a noticeable increase in health and thickness of my ends. I will be bunning it all winter and I know I will have those inches back by the new year. Kudos to you for having the strength to cut thin ends! Now you are REALLY my hair hero, lol!

I want that dress...my address is...lol! Seriously, I think your hair is gorgeous and you have nothing to worry about. It's still the longest you've ever had in your life. At the same time, you had a reason for why you did it. This is a great example to let women know, that it's okay to cut those ends off if it needs to go. Health comes first before length. Even if your hair was BSL, your hair would still look hot because of it's health.

It looks so beautiful Traycee! I love the color and cut. Your makeup and outfit look really cute by the way =]

He did an AMAZING job! I actually felt nervous FOR him! It looks great, and think of it this way - it is still something you have NEVER had, blunt WL hair all the way across, so its still another first for you! Normally you have a "u" or a "v" so just trying to give another plus side but either way, you and the hair look beautiful! just think of how full it will be when the entire length is texlaxed!

Hey it's not that bad. It's still beautiful and longer than most of us. When I read your twitter I thought you'd cut it to shoulder lenght or something lol

I completely understand the emotion of having to cut it so it would be healthier. My hair grows into a "V". I know I need to do this. I'm not strong enough yet though.

Love the results. & yes, I was eagerly awaiting the final pic, but I had to read every detail. It was like reading a cliffhanger novel. LOL

Thank you so much for sharing. :O)

I think it is still gorgeous!!!! I understand the emotions, though. But your hair grows fantastically, so it will be back in no time. Keep inspiring! <3 candice~naturaldancer

It was a brave thing! I barely trimmed last relaxer and I was upset so I can imagine. It looks great though - I always like to see blunt ends and it'll grow back in a jiffy (& thicker!).

im glad u cut it to waist and didnt cut it off. your hair looks great and i know you would never keep thin ends. how many boxes of dye did you use? love the new color.

Anonymous said...

I'm sure you won't regret anything...You ends look a lot healthier and fuller now....just curious though, do you think your ends might have gotten thin because of some shedding or breakage?

Anonymous said...

u look lovely lil lady! and u worked hard to retain all that hair...glad u didnt chop it off. thats the good thing bout transitioning to texlaxed it lets u enjoy your length...have the best of both worlds.

trini said...

ur hair still look long;however it do look thinner than ur past pic's..am referring to the entire hair...it just dont look full and thick like before..maybe its how the pic came out...

Traycee said...

THank you everyone...

@ Trini.... No its not thinner... You have to remember all of you haven't seen my hair flat ironed in at least a year if not longer... BUt if you look at my flat iron pics its all the same

Thanks again ladies.... You have to remember too I'm transitioning and if you look at the pics ...Its a huge difference between the texlaxed hair and relaxed hair...

I will be doing several mini chops till I'm all Texlaxed

Realice said...

Aww, your hair is still gorgeous. And I absolutely love the color. Cutting is traumatic but sometimes necessary. I hope you come to love it even more and that hair will be back in no time, luv.

MsKibibi said...

Aww I know what you mean about getting emotional when cutting. The ends looks great though! Can't wait to see you at TBL.

Anonymous said...

Hey, you're my hair hero. You helped me get to TB length myself just recently. I started my journey around the same time and I also want to undergo a mini cut when I flat iron next. Can you imagine if you add up all the hair you have helped grow on the heads of other women!!! Thats a whole lot of length. It will grow fast, no worries.

-Natasha (sorry I always post without my account...I only come on to view your blog)

Hey Traycee,

I swear we are always at the same point in our hair journey and length. I too am at tailbone length and need to trim up to waist length. It's terrible because I love my braid-outs at this length, but when its time for my next relaxer it should grow back. Your hair is still beautiful and Thanks for documenting your journey with us!

I don't know if the post-cut shock has subsided, but I gotta say, your hair looks very healthy and shiny! I love the color, and the cut definitely thickens out your ends. I'm sure the new ends will work well in your next braid-out. Lookin' forward to new braid out pics!

I am 39 and still cry when I cut my hair LOL I'm glad to see I'm not the only one.

I was surprised to see you cut your hair. I don't think there was anything wrong with your ends... but I have to admit I love the blunt cut! Your hair looks awesome. Now stay away from the scissors lady! Stay blessed.

LOVE the hair and the trim looks really good! and the hair that you cut will grow back in no time!

HHG!!!

Girrrrl your hair looks great! I hjust darkened my hair as well, jet black and I love it! I cut a bang and I hate it, so i never wear wraps anymore until it grows out some, looks kinda wiggy smh. But the way I curl my bangs I kinda like it, so I no longer feel sick when I look in the mirror, lol. But your hair looks much healtier so keep up the good work, your my shehero! Hahaha

Wow your hair is beautiful, I wish my hair would get that long, but it seems my stylist always cuts off my progress. Today I got a relaxer and she cut my ends when it was wet and again when it was dry, now I cant stop crying.

Traycee said...

Anonymous... Stop crying it will grow back but dump the stylist and in the future SPEAK UP... Your paying for a service and if you don't want something they shouldn't do it...

I've turned around and grabbed combs out of beauticians hands and told them they are to rough with my hair...

You will be fine ... Big Hug
